Yes. When I eject from calibre, but do not unplug, the Kobo home screen will soon appear and any new books will be imported. (Although I have no problem when I unplug either before or after the home screen appears.)

When I eject from Windows (calibre NOT running), the home screen never appears. I have to physically unplug for that.
