I have all my 30,000+ books categorized in Calibre, including (in the case of unread books) how strong is my desire to read them. So it's pretty easy to pick something from the top 500 in desirability. I don't have to go through all my books every time I'm about to start a new book.
If I had to browse all my purchases in different stores I've used, I'd go mad. Now
that's time-consuming. Using Calibre just takes a couple of clicks. Of course, managing and categorizing my new purchases takes longer, but I don't mind that.
