I conducted an experiment. I went to the main page and the book I was just reading was not there. So I went through all the pages until the last page (65 in this case), just to see if it got put at the end. But no, it wasn't there.
So I searched my items and found it and it opened. I had made a bookmark on the last page I had read and that worked.
As I said originally, last night I opened two books that I had downloaded earlier in the evening and then closed them, only to have them disappear. One of them was "defective" in the sense that it was not the book that it was supposed to be. It was a different work by the same author but in the Italian language. I read Italian, so I knew it was one of her books that I had previously read in English.
I am wondering if perhaps it messed with my Kindle somehow.
Any thoughts?
