We see those type here all the time.

Folk running Calibre 4.x with
issues that have been fixed in later versions.
Kindles are known for making frequent changes (for higher walls?, Web site changes...) that others (Calibre and PI devs)
try and keep up with.
The original Kindles used the
Kodak model. Sell a inexpensive (it sold at near cost) device and make the $$ on selling content and convenience (Whisper sync) to shop the store. A great plan, Many got K's because they were EASY TO USE. Then... they went the lock in route
I understand why some devices use PTP or MTP... Simple for Cameras or Media Players.
But an e-reader? Or is this because these devices are really becoming Multi-Media 'book' players and just being made really simple for file transfers?
