Your cellular network has probably deprecated the cellular services K1 needs.
This happened in the US 2 or 3 years ago, if not earlier. For awhile it would still connect to the network (and update Kindle time), but not connect to Amazon. I think that service is gone now as well. I have a K1 ($20 on eBay) but we never had coverage where I live with whoever Amazon partnered with. It worked for a couple of years where there was coverage.
What an ugly device. I love it.
