Depends. To flies, cockroaches, wasps and such, yes. Those will be removed immediately. Spiders and other small harmless critters who sometimes wander in, not particularly. Also, I'm an avid consumer of fresh fruit and tend to have tiny fruit flies in my home that arrive from the shop with the fruit; spiders keep their population down pretty nicely.
PBM couldn't live without daily doses of fresh fruit.
