I'm not so certain that's true. I think more assimilation happened in North America than anyone realizes. Did you know that the Commonwealth of Virginia has recognized
8 Indian tribes? Seven other tribes are currently
seeking recognition.
There are times where I wonder if some of the major differences between American and European culture come not from being a frontier, but were inherited from the Native Americans.
