Kovid, wow! I had thought of that possibility because Task Manager showed Calibre as running, but only used the ancient tried-and-true method of ALT-TAB, which still showed Calibre 'dead' (so to speak) in the taskbar. I did a Google search and found the following for Windows 11 . . . "Press and hold the Shift key, then right-click the stuck program in the taskbar to click Maximize. Then the program should display on your screen." I've included this blurb in case others face this weird problem. Many, many, many thanks, Kovid. I had very little hair left to pull out! Calibre now working normally.
