I have other examples from other companies in other industries. I won't bore you with them. They all tell a tale of Government mandated rate for services that often prices the unskilled young worker out of a job.

I'd say overall the problem is people wanting simple solutions to complex problems (and wanting everything to be cheap, of course). Raise the minimm wage, and the costs of "economy" items will all go up, necessarily pushing the required amount of the "living wage." And yet, the system we have depends on the labor of the "working poor." And sometimes regulations can help businesses do something they feel is right and want to be able to do, but can't afford to if their competitors do not also have to comply.
I don't think there are easy answers. In some situations, there may not be answers at all, in the sense that some inequalities will always be with us. But I don't accept that there is
nothing that can be done to improve the situation, either.
