You do not remove DRM from file downloaded to ereader. You go to website and use the browser to download the ebook you bought outright (not KU). You select download and then the model registered (even if there is only one). You'll not be offered KFX. You can't choose file type, but it will be compatible to the ereader.
My PW3 (and Oasis 2 I gave away) mostly get KFX if they are allowed to download directly, but never get/got KFX from Browser download.
The Scribe might result in KFX downloads. But that would be a mad thing to buy.
