Use calibre with the Kobo Utilities plugin. Kobo Utilities can check the database to see if it's corrupt or not.

Also, Kobo Utilities can backup the database when you plug-in your Kobo to your calibre library so if you ever have a corrupt database, you can restore the latest backup.
