I was under the impression that holding the button for 40 seconds was the "hard reset." However, you are correct. I used all the internal memory on manga.
If I can repair it, I don't mind paying someone to replace the battery. It's the premature failure that I am afraid of, as there would be no recourse other than trashing the device.
