I think that you have misunderstood. I have no interest in increasing my micropay balance. A 100% micropay rebate is effectively a BOGOF - Buy One, Get One Free. A very good offer, and one I won't pass up if it's for a book I want.

But there's no point in paying more into the micropay account than absolutely necessary. Consider a (numerically convenient) $100 eBook at 100% micropay

I can pay fictionwise $100 and get $100 added to my micropay or I can apply the 15% discount and pay fictionwise $85 and get $85 added to my micropay. If I later wanted (for any reason) $100 in my micropay, I could just buy $15 micropay for $15.

Applying the discount means I keep $15 in my account instead of in fictionwise's account, until I actually need to spend it. This is a good thing.
