I have the same problem with affect and efffect. Everybody seem to not understand the difference.
AFFECT is what an action does (or will do) to a person/object.
EFFECT is the result of an action on a person/object.
Example:
Dropping a rock on a person's head will affect them by raising a lump on their head.
The lump on my head was the effect of a rock being dropped on it.
