This morning the council called me. They told me that on Thursday evening they (civil servants) went to take a look at the situation and they saw that our door was blocked, both by tables and chairs and the olive trees. Last time they sent people from another department (dealing with parking, cycling in pedestrian area and other general anti-social behaviour).
Even though officially they can't officially give a warning to the restaurant of the olive trees, they did have a talk with them. They "hadn't realized", which is BS since we've asked them several time to move the trees.
The other restaurant got a verbal warning last time, now they are getting a written warning. And the council want them to put in a physical barrier. So a screen or a rope or something, to prevent their customers from moving in front of the door. And it has to be put up on their own part of the sidewalk, so it'll take up space where they can't put any tables and chairs.
It'll be interesting to see what happens. It's our problem for another two and a half weeks. I'm going to email the new owner the details and the case number, if he (or rather his builders) have any problems they can refer to that case number instead of starting from scratch.
