Forma crashed after decoupling from Calibre

Well, this is the first time this ever happened to me. I connected it to the desktop, had Calibre upload a few books, then decoupled the device from the software. When I looked at the device a bit later, I saw the screen lit up as though it was rebooting, which it never does. But now on startup I get the initialization screen.

So of course most of the imported books on there are now lost. (For some unaccountable reason, *some* are still on there. But all the data, like what collection they were in, is lost.)

So now I have more than 2000 books in Calibre on my desktop, and I'd like to import almost all of them, not to have to figure out every time I look op a book if it's on there and go back to the computer first if it's not. But I guess that's hardly possible? I also have an Elipsa (i.e. much newer, faster processor), and when I tried to import huge numbers of books to that device I remember it crashed all the time. I had to do it in small batches.

Anybody have better experiences with this.
What a disheartening experience.
