By all means back up Calibre files to a NAS when Calibre isn't running. But you can't sensibly run anything using SQLight on a network drive. A USB, eSATA, SCSI or Firewire drive can be mounted externally with Calibre files, but not a network share of any kind.

Use a local drive.
