I had great success in ridding our home of a minor (but thoroughly annoying and embarrassing) flea infestation several years ago by using a flea trap. It was essentially a night light on a small tripod maybe three inches tall above a glue trap. I set it up outside the dog's crate. Use it at night, and make sure the room is as dark as you can make it. The fleas jump towards the light, fall on the glue trap, and that's it. Replace the glue trap the next day until the fleas are gone.

It also works for crickets and other bugs.
