Thank you DNSB, you saved my e-reader. I performed the update operation with the latest firmware version using the Kobo Desktop software but also directly by copying the latest firmware update to the .kobo directory. Both failed. The latest firmware version is defective. I installed an older version of update (2020) and was able to configure the e-reader. This was impossible with only the supplied disk image. Thanks again
