Dear all, thank you all for your continued comments and advice.
An update: So after I unplugged the USB and rebooted the Nia I could use a wifi to "reinitialise the nia", the first boot it came back up with everything "cleaned" (the equivalent of a factory reset I assume). I tried to reinstall the all-in-one package (using the script properly this time; I prefer KoReader), but Koreader (or Plato) crash when starting. I therefore tried to turn off and then back on. The reboot seems to have reset the Nia and it is asking for wifi or USB to setup again. However now Wifi cannot connect, and when I try to use USB, my macbook does not see any mounted drive anymore. The Nia is stuck in the setup stage with no way to progress (I tried a different wifi network and a different USB cable, nada).
Are there some other incantations to reset this without access to the system or mounted drive, or can I assume this is a brick and try to work out how to reflash the whole system?
Thanks again!
