I fully agree that directly transfer through USB is faster. The only issue arrives when books need to be classified into collections. By design, Kindle device is not as snappy and responsive as a laptop or an Android phone that allows to quickly scroll through a long list, tickmark and add the files to different collections. This is why I find the send-to-kindle webservice to be better than USB transfer.

Each method has its pro and con. The website transfer method has format issues but gives better speed for organizing files.

The usb method gives privacy, speed of transfer but low speed for organizing later in the device.
