If an author I usually enjoy I may set the book aside for when I am in a more condusive mood to read it.

But if I have tried several times or the book is just boring me, I just skip to the end and consider myself done.

That may not be as easy with an audio book. I have been known to speed up the narration a lot to get through an audio book.I don't own many audio books, usually get them from the library. But listening really fast to me is the equivilent of skimming even tough you hear all of the words.

I used to think I had to be a have-to-finish-if-I-paid-for-it type. But nowadays I just look at the huge pile of books in my virtual TBR and say whatever, done with this one.

During my last Calibre purge I actually deleted a whole chunk of books and some complete series I'd purchased but hadn't yet read. It was hard at first, but once done felt so much lighter. And I don't miss those books at all. My TBR was weighing me down. Now it is still too big, but at least the books left in it are ones I do potentially honestly want to read. And when I try one and it's not...see above.
