Thanks Quoth. I may be actually be misunderstanding the purpose of the .kobo folder, reading around it seems I am mistaken that the .kobo folder hold OS files, but just update or accessory files. If so an unmount and all may be good, though I have lost my `Kobo eReader.conf` file there I will try to recreate that. I was reticent to unmount just in case there was something I could do so haven't got to try a factory reboot etc yet...
