I've heard people say 10.3 is the minimum size you should consider for textbook-style books, so that's about the size I'm looking for right now. As for note-taking, I've heard some people say 7.8/8 inch is too small for them, and others say they actually prefer the smaller size. So it seems to come down to personal preference.

Though I'll be holding off on making any purchases for at least a couple of months, just wanted to start my research early. We'll see how I feel about it when the time comes.
