Hmm... German name for a poodle? Pudelhund. A splash hound. (pudeln). From poodle to puddle to pudelhund was a short jaunt.

Nothing and Baskerville? The curious incident of the dog in the night-time from The Adventure of Silver Blaze took me to hound and continuing with Sherlock Holmes, The Hound of the Baskervilles.

As for cathy and habitual? I was not referring to cathy as posted by @pdurrant but rather to @ownedbycats "edit: missed that there was another page".
