It appears that they were published in paperback in three separate volumes as a series. I guess that's why each volume has a different title. Kind of like The Lord of the Rings, which was only a "trilogy" because Allen & Unwin thought they were going to lose money on it so, to save paper, they planned to print fewer copies of each succeeding volume.
