That's very interesting - thanks for posting the info. I might even read it I think the idea makes sense, Noth America is too big an area for reional differences not to develop. It's just easier to 'remember' differences with regards to Europe since it consists of nation states each with certain cultural characteristics and differences.

BTW, is it just me who've noticed that some people in this discussion seem to use 'Europe' and 'EU' interchangeably? (and no, I can't remember who). EU and Europe are not same - at least not as far as I know.
