I was able to reproduce this problem. Unfortunately, I don't know what's causing it.

You might want to downgrade the EPUBCheck Java files to the previous version:

• Preferences > Miscellaneous > Open Calibre configuration folder > plugins > EPUBCheck.
• Delete epubcheck.jar and the lib folder.
• Download https://github.com/w3c/epubcheck/rel...heck-5.0.1.zip and unzip epubcheck.jar and the lib folder to the EPUBCheck folder.

Or simply use the Sigil EPUBCheck plugin which doesn't have this problem.

I'll try to figure out what the problem is on the weekend.
