Ampersand in Author Name

I'm hoping I can get some help with this. I store a wide variety of books and old vintage knitting patterns in my library. Some of the really old stuff only has company names which contain "&", therefore breaking up the name. I've tried using "and" which still breaks up the name of the company. I don't really want to leave just a space, because then it's harder to understand the company name. Can anyone suggest some ways I can still enter the company name as author? My search foo, which usually works is failing me today. Thanks
