The percentage of customers who still use a 3G Kindle must be vanishingly small and Amazon's already had a generous incentive for them to upgrade. No device lasts forever and if customers are pissed off because they can't download and transfer to a 3G Kindle, they're being unrealistic, to put it mildly. While there might be other arguments for keeping download and transfer, catering to dinosaurs isn't one of them.
