The kobopatch works by modifying system files which are transferred to the .kobo directory on your Kobo ereader and installed using the same mechanism as the firmware upgrades when a KoboRoot.tgz file is found. The edit to the configuration file does not require an install but may need a reboot or connect/disconnect to take effect.

Have you tried having more than 2 books open in the top row? Have you turned parental controls off if they are on?

The quick tour widget seen is set to true once the quick tour has been done.
