It used to be possible to use the Kindle web browser to read books at play.google.com/books. Totally horrible, but possible.

However, the Scribe web browser cannot sign in: "The browser you're using doesn't support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off." I checked browser settings: JavaScript is enabled, but is probably a version no longer supported by Google.
