Nearly useless. It shouldn't have the last (up to 3) books added. On a Sage or Elipsa it's a useful way to swap between a book and an Advanced Notebook you created for more than simple annotations (or exportable PDF annotations).
Maybe there needs to be a checkbox to "lock" an item in the list and it should ONLY have things actually opened.
If you are doing research and a main book and loads of other books, you'd want to lock your main book and advanced Notebook related to research on the list.

I agree, an interesting idea but badly implemented.
