Our Texas ducklings pretty much follow their mamas like tradition and nature dictate, and they quack in American English (with a Texas twang.)

These "quackers" live at the our small neighborhood lake.

Sometimes the little yellowish quacklettes wander off by themselves, as this one did. I guess they're more independent from the get-go, or they just get lost easily.

After checking with the local feed store a few years ago, I've been feeding the ducks "cracked corn." They really like it. It stays on top of the water for a bit before sinking, and as it sinks, they just bob for it. I often just place a fistful on the ground for them when they're out of the water just walking around.
