Walter S Masterman (1876-1946) was the author of more than 30 novels in various genres, including the classic British whodunit. As is the case with most authors, after he died, his novels faded away. This one comes with a foreword by G K Chesterton (1874-1936)
It is a country house / locked room mystery, with the typical combination of a well-connected amateur detective and an astute Scotland Yard man.
