Yes, the metadata entry restricted is only used by the sites that list it in extra_valid_entries in defaults.ini.

That's my thought. I suspect many if not most of my AO3 stories are author subs, not story subs.

But I will consider it if other users would also find that useful.

I did not know that AO3 would let you hide some metadata when logged in. Thanks for letting us know about it.
