I put only the .tgz file in the.kobo directory for like 3 times and it didn't work, then i was desperate so i tried adding the other two files as well ("upgrade" folder and manifest.md5sun) plus deleting a file called customized setup (or something similar) and it worked, it still doesn't connect to my wifi (2.4g) but it connected to the hotspot of my phone.
it's weird cause as you said usually the.tgz file is enough, maybe jumping from 3.19 to 4.35 was too much and the other files were needed this time?
