Ownedbycats pretty much said what I was going to say. Using a calibre (SQLite) database on a network share is asking for trouble.

Over the decades I've worked in IT, I have seen Oracle, Microsoft, IBM and other databases have issues with some network file storage implementations and they were intended to work as shared databases over a network.
