I expect Kindle wants location so that it knows what country I am in. But yeah, it has my Amazon account details; shouldn't need more than that.
The Kindle app is fine; it's not gray. The main thing I am finding missing compared to my Kindle device is dark mode; the Kindle app doesn't have that, nor does the native Boox reader app. I use that a lot so I am quite bummed about it. I can get around that with Moon Reader but the ghosting is quite bad on the normal refresh settings.
