The battery meter is super inaccurate, yes. I've also experienced situations where the meter says 25% left and then suddenly drops to 9%, then it powers off five minutes later. For the time being, ignore what the meter says when it's charging and just leave it plugged in until it says it's fully charged, then make a note of when you started using it and see how many days you get before you have to charge again. I got 18 days of use from my last charge, which seems pretty normal, despite the battery meter showing nonsensical numbers to me.
