From the couple of books I looked at it didn’t appear to support embedded fonts. It looks like you can select from: a list of fonts that are built-in to the app, ‘system fonts’, or “default”. I couldn’t verify if the “default” was the embedded font. I also didn't see a way to side load a font, but that may be doable by loading the font onto “the system” (if possible).
As far as a subscription model goes… I don’t like them either… I much prefer buying my software and being done. However, subscription is the only way to keep the cash flow that pays for programmers to keep working on the app. I think Marvin’s one-fee model is one reason why it isn’t being maintained. It was Kris’ ‘project’, not his ‘business’.
