Cosmetics seem to be many of the reasons to 'upgrade' an OS .

W7 was a massive step forward in reducing vulnerabilities. I had a USB HD TV tuner card that just worked (Media center).
I played with W8 in the Demo room at MS MTV (and Ubuntu seemed to follow that 'tile' thing. I guess it made sense on a touch screen,,, but ... ). Linux Mint got rid of some of that hated UI.
Then W10 landed on my laptop and my tuner no longer worked, many features of my Brother MFC disappeared

Recently I helped a friend commission a new W11 laptop. Hoo-Boy. I had problems finding settings I frequently used. Are they taking control away from users, requiring a internet connection for everything (so they can mine your activity?) ?
