Real USB modes use digital data.
Dumb charging is also in the USB spec and only the USB 3.0 cabled USB-C chargers / hosts support USB data signalling (on extra wires, not regular D- & D+) to support extra modes.
I've read specifications for decades to design electronic gear. An analogue connection is not a USB connection simply because it's in the USB spec. Audio Accessory mode, not USB Audio mode. Not many things support it as it's an option.
