Since you are trying to use a system font, from what I've seen, for most reading apps, you would need to enable using that font in it's configuration dialog. Using font's external to an epub can be a pain and, in my experience, results in an epub that is not usable on multiple systems.
I see, thank you! I had tried embedding the font itself into the epub (just having the font file in the font folder, declared in the manifest, etc.), but it didn't fix the issue either..

It's just confusing to me because VS reads the font fine when it's in the main body (<p>) but when it comes to lists <ol><li> it just stops reading it. I thought since it reads it in one code but not in another, its not an issue of the app not reading/supporting the font.
