I'd think that Tolkien was in the wrong field. While his books earned him eternal fame, his decades early work in artificial intelligence would have won him a Nobel prize, surely.
Anyone besides me have a favorite book and a favorite author, but their favorite author did NOT write their favorite book?
I love The Hobbit and have since I was a kid. But don't really care about The Lord of the Rings and the rest.
Steinbeck is my favorite author.
