Error importing files

So, Amazon caught me, and I've spent some time on the workaround for download & transfer. I purchased a Paperwhite 2 and registered it with Amazon. Amazon then allowed me to download and tranfer for 4 new books that I had bought. I put them into a folder, then tried to use Calibre to import them (and hopefully use my normal conversion process to make them readable on my Kobo). What I got for all 4 books was an error message and a failed import. The message is below. I have never used D&T OR a Kindle, so I don't know if this is user error or what. The books downloaded with AZW3 extensions... The Kindle firmware is version 5.12.2.2.

calibre, version 6.13.0.

I did try transferring one of the books to the Kindle, but that didn't work either so I expect this is something I've done wrong.
