Huh. I thought the SE wouldn't come with ads by default..? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The only way I could think that this happened is the previous owner went into the Amazon device management page and chose to enable offers.

On that note, I have a Kindle Paperwhite 2 which is supposedly an ad-supported device, but after I had reset it (to clear out previous owner's data) the ads just never showed. I still don't know how or why. Going to the Amazon device management page does show it is offer-enabled.
