This is the wrong thread for what you are asking. See

However, while I am on the subject, I think this update is particularly important and I would personally be prioritizing applying this update over concerns about ease reinstalling KOReader.

I believe because the discussion has (as you allude) digressed from the
original request, which was for some way to set brightness through NickelMenu.
