The Voyage was released over 8 years ago, the PW3 shortly after that, and the Oasis 2 over 5 years ago. All of those and their successors handle panning zoomed images well enough. A Scribe wouldn't even need to zoom images significantly larger than the current maximum size.
amazon's processing delivers a double whammy to maps and other images with text. Even if the dimensional shrinking doesn't make them illegible, the blurring from the unnecesarily low quality JPEG compression frequently does.
