We hear a lot of concerned voices about humankind opening Pandrora's box by creating AI. But could an AI evolve by itself perhaps? If a network of computers (internet) became vast enough? Could it be observing us from the sidelines right now?

Is AI inevitable? Are human beings simply an example of a "stepping-stone" species in the transfer from biological to digital?

Perhaps we're all just the consequence of a highly complicated and detailed chatGPT query. Maybe Douglas Adams was correct in the question being more important than the answer.
